So my sebright is sitting on 5 wait 7 no 9 eggs. That's right my other chickens keep jumping In her nest and laying eggs and she just grabs them and slides them in. I'm fine with her hatching them on her own but won't they all have different hatch days? And how do I stop the other ladies from giving her more eggs to incubate? All of the babies she makes will go to feeding my family seeing how I have 5 week old chicks to replace my old 9 more is to many so food they will be. Sebright are small so I don't see how she can sit on any more eggs. Help would be great. Thank you everyone for your help

Do you mean you're eating their eggs or them?
Sebrights are tiny, so I wouldn't give her more than 8 eggs. Make sure she's able to cover them all comfortably.
Welcome to BYC!

I will be eating the babies that she is sitting on when they are about 6 months she is on 2 sebright eggs 2 Cochin eggs and 5 standard eggs.

You eat bantam chicken? Hm. Sebright's are very tiny birds. Not very meaty. If you intend your birds for meat, you should try something bigger and heavier.
If your other birds are laying eggs in her box, then mark the eggs you want her to stay on with a sharpie and collect any unmarked eggs daily.
I had a hen sit on eggs that weren't laid the same day. One hatched and then half a month later two more hatched. She's raising them together.
Good luck!

Only 2 chicks will be sebrights. My roo is a Cochin Americana batam. So the chicks will be mixed but still 9 birds for 2 people even if very small :) will be taisty. Ok so a sharply will be safe . Good idea

If they're purebred sebrights, you could make some $$$. Sell them and put the $$$ towards meat chickens. Sebrights and bantams are going to have hardly any meat on them worth the work and trouble of "harvesting" them

the adults are pure breed sebrights, but the eggs are mixed, i think we will be raising the 4 eggs that are sebright mix banty eggs, and eat the 5 full size eggs, when they grow of course, and all the keeper eggs have marks on them to identify. at why age will i be able to hold a light up and see the chick forming inside the egg?
