Help get Ticks off Dog?

Quote:
I used to save them for the same reason. Then my daughter got really sick shortly after she had been bitten by a tick. I asked the hospital if they could have the tick tested for tick-borne diseases to which they replied that there is no tests they can perform on ticks to test for diseases. So, why are we saving ticks in our freezers?

Google tick twister. And the good part is that you don't have to touch then.

I use a medical hemostat and just grab on as close to the skin as I can get. If you can't get one of these easily (electronics stores sell them), a small needle-nosed pliers will work as well.

If the tick is embedded, smother it with Vaseline.

We used to get ticks on the dog all the time, even with Advantage. Since we've had chickens free ranging, we almost never find a tick on the dog.
