HELP! Goat got into Chicken Grower/finisher and possibly in labor OR Bloat?

I think I will.. Better safe than sorry. One does three years old and probably has never had a vaccination in her life.. Giving her a shots gonna be fun.

What gauge needle works best on adults?

I use 18 gauge. I do keep smaller needles for younger kids but if the antibiotic is to thick I have had to use the 18 gauge on the younger ones.

I use 20 by 3/4" needles for almost everything. I keep a handful of 22 and 18 guage on hand also. One for kids, one for really thick stuff. As for wormer. .. There are some "natural" options out there. I have yet to find one that actually works well... Some folks swear by the stuff Hogger's has, but I dunno. I like all natural but worms are not something to mess around with. And please don't go buy the "safeguard goat wormer". Many places it doesn't do a thing.

Okay, so I had put an ad on craigslist looking for some antitoxin for the Doeling.

The vet who I normally go (went) to messaged me.

He didn't know what I meant by antitoxin to treat the Endotoxemia.

Is this just a weird word we use?

Wow.... No it's not. It's not even specific to goats!
You did call it enterotoxemia, right? Tell him to Google it, lol. Or Google C & D antitoxin.

My exact post was :

"HELP CD antitoxin needed! SICK DOELING
I'm new to owning goats and just bought a momma goat and her baby about four days ago. The doeling is about a week and a half old, weighs 9 pounds, and is a pygmy/Alpine mix.
She's lethargic, not hungry, and a bit pale and is showing the signs of early Enterotoxemia. The TCS is out of antitoxin and none of the vets I can get to treat goats. I have some Norocillin to try and treat the fever she has but she needs some antitoxin. She's in the early stages so she has a good chance of survival if I get her some."

And his response was

"I will try to heip you with your goat but not sure what you mean by antitoxin, email me ------- or call --- --- -----. PS There at 2 vets in ------------- area that treat goats.. Dr ----------- DVM"

THANKFULLY we were wrong the first time. But.. His response.. Idk man. Idk.

A lot of vets graduate vet school and are totally unfamiliar with entertoxemia and how to treat it. Some that know what it is think there is no treatment for it. A friend of mine, a long time goat breeder and dairyman, was on a goat farm on business and saw two vets working in a doe with a full blown case of entero. She politely tried to tell them what was wrong and what to do but they ignored her. No surprise, the doe died and the vets really didn't know why.

For the record, the antibiotic of choice for treating entero is penicillin. Clostridium perfingens, the bacterium that causes entero, is susceptible to penicillin. Give a dose of penicillin under the skin and squirt another dose down the goat's throat. Do the same with the antitoxin. The antitoxin can be repeated in about 20 minutes if there is no improvement.

Well, I've got plenty of penicillin, so that's good.

Babies perked up and is now really active, even running around kicking her heels in the air. Her appetites grown substantially, Momma barely has any milk left for me! But it's a good sign.

Still no babies for tea. How long after she starts showing signs until it becomes worrisome?

I was just able to watch your video. She doesn't look ready to kid, lol. Here's the deal with goats and kidding.. they do it when they want and how they want, and lots of times you can "see" things that they are doing and think it's labor. Some of the things you told us sounded like getting ready to kid, but without laying eyes on the actual goat, it's really hard to guess if it's true signs or not.
I think we've talked about checking tail ligaments? If not, let me know and we'll go over that. What you are looking for is a doe that has lost her ligaments, is hollowed out and belly dropped, is uneasy and restless, has a change in behavior whether that be more lovey or more distant, has bagged up, is nesting, etc. Some does do it all, others don't. A lot of my does do a lot of stretching and rubbing before getting ready to kid, they do that to get the babies into kidding position.
Is this her first time around or no? If it is not, and you are seeing udder development, it should be sooner rather than later.
I don't see any reason to get concerned until she is actively in labor pushing and doesn't get anything accomplished.

Her tail ligaments are gone, I can wrap my fingers around her spine, pretty much and her vulva's to the point where it just.. hands open. She hollowed out one day, then unhallowed the next.

She's kidded before, but her bag has grown a lot since this began. It's not 'strutted' yet. but it's bigger. And she's pawing, up and down, pacing, and rubbing against things.
