My prayers are with you and your little chicken.

Keep her separated until she is well recovered. You don't want her spreading illness, and you don't want others keeping her from food/water. If necessary cover the box or container you are keeping her in with hardware cloth or some similar breathable lid. If the container is ventilated itself (such as a laundry basket), the top doesn't need to be.

As SOON as I looked at that pic I was going to say "Look at her belly!" you can tell there was a injury there from the way it looks in the pic.

You are so very lucky to have a vet locally who will treat your chickens. Alot of us here don't and must go it alone.

Great job so far and good luck on Baby Bad Wings recovery!

Baby Bad Wings is back with her flock and appears to have recovered nicely. She still has to have her stitches and staples taken out and is still on meds, but seems to be fine and very happy now that she is back outside. Just wanted to say thanks for the prayers and thoughts. They worked! And thanks Laurie for taking such great care of my little hen!

A little side note: Since I was away and had someone else unfamiliar with chickens watching my birds, I think it's important to check the birds over fairly carefully each day to make sure there is nothing going on. If I had asked the chicken sitter to do this, Baby Bad Wings wouldn't have suffered for as long as she did. The entire experience would have been much easier for all to deal with if it was caught early on. She came each day to give fresh water and feed and treats but didn't know to inspect them. There were signs something was wrong but she didn't catch on. I don't blame her, she did the absolute best she could. But visually looking at their under parts would have done the trick.

:clapYay! Glad she's on the mend! I also wanted to thank you for the comments about chicken sitters. I know there will come a time when I need somebody to watch my chickens, and I don't think I would've thought to mention checking out their bottoms.
