Help hatching call duck eggsl

I sure would like to buy a nice pair of call ducks from you Mrs. Turbo! My goal is to be able to show at the Fort Worth Stock Show. I really enjoyed your site.
No egg delivery today. Maybe tomorrow.

We wait until the egg have a internal peep and move then move the egg to the hatcher with about 65% humidity. The reason behind this is our call duck eggs start hatching between 24-27 days and if they move over too early they sometimes drown before they can peep internally....but like I said, this has worked well for us and our climate. Just take pointers here and there and do what works best for your setup.
We also leave the call ducklings in the hatcher for at least 48 hours before putting them in the brooder. This allows time for them to gain balance and they don't flip over as much.

Mrs. Turbo, I must admit that I've been drooling over the pics of your silver appleyard calls for a couple of weeks now. I figure I will see how I get on with my white cresteds, then, hmmm?

(Gads! Am I really thinking "next variety" already? Sounds like the early stages of "Call Fever" to me!)

The silver appleyard call ducks are a popular backyard duck because they are small and marked like the standard appleyards, but there are not many breeders for them and not that many people show them. They are one of my favorite next to the snowys. Right now we have 8 varieties of call ducks. We are thinking about getting out of the pastels and just keeping a couple of the show birds.....

I got 6 call duck eggs in the mail yesterday! Very pretty blue green color and all in good shape. They are too big for the egg turner that we have so will be turning by hand until the new screen arrives in the mail. We left them out to get to room temp before placing in the bator. We will start turning 4 times a day late this afternoon which will be 24 hours since we put in the bator.The wet bulb wick dryed up overnight. Made the dry bulb go to almost 101 and wet bulb to 91! But DH fixed and is stable at 99.5 and 85. He had screwed down the outlet to the bottle too tight trying to get the humitity down before we put the eggs in and didn't open it I guess. He is thinking the humitiy was taken from the eggs. But it is also raining here today. Hopefully, that little snufu in the first hours won't be a problem. Anyway, we'll see what happens. There are Snowy eggs. I am hoping we will be able to find someone to buy a pair of good quality White from at the Fort Worth Stock Show!
