Hatty......I am so excited to be watching your post. Just put eggs in the bator this morning.....very excited watching yours. I am thinking good thoughts and sending them your way. Keep us posted. THIS newbie can't wait for news.
I'm just keeping a watch on them, she seems to be coping well so far. I do think your right the temp may have held them back and with the humidity being out (I didn't realise you sprayed them from 4 days) it delayed things and now the lack of humidity has caused problems.
Bayyjayy, We thought we'd lost them when they didn't show any sign of arriving on Sunday so we prepped the brinsea oct 20 and put 6 more in that, they are on day 4 so don't know if they are fertile or not yet. I started spraying today but I'm only doing this as I read somewhere that you should spray from day 4 to day 27. If anyone else has any different advise please let me know.
I usually start misting on day 7 through time of lockdown, if needed, based on whether I'm on track to reaching a target weight loss of 14-16% by day 28.
here is another picture of her taken about 15mins ago, not too sure if shes progressing enough, im thinking of following petes advise on the candling to look for yolk sac, what do you think?
Any advise welcome, do i just leave over night 22:00 here or do i help??
Your baby is really looking good. Won't be too much longer now. I would definitely shine a flashlight into hole and see if any yolk is left. She may be ready to come out.
I'm so glad your still on, I've just been to check on her before heading up to bed and her head is out, feet are still in and I've shone (sp) a torch into the egg from the viewing window and can still see a small yellow yolk its probably the size a small marble, with some red veins on it. She seems to be breating well, I've taken her off the cloth. What do I do now, what are the chances of survival if I go to bed, I don't think I'll sleep much!!
Egg 2 - it was internally pipped last night, it externally pipped earlier today. I can hear it cherping inside, would you say give it at lease another 10hrs to break through? I am still thinking they've not had enough humidity. I may have to refer back to that other post, can't remember all what he said.
My husband is giving me the running commentry as I'm sat typing and he says its now pushing with its feel, will it be ok with a yolk still present?
Place baby in a small tupperware dish so he cannot kick off the shell and if he does get shell off, do not let him pull any string remaining from belly to inside of shell. Stay calm. You may not get sleep tonight. Once we get your 1st one sorted.... it will be time to create a small hole like in Pete's guide to check on baby inside 2nd egg.
The key for the 2nd baby will be to make sure no membrane is sticking to his nares to allow for breathing. Then, moisten the membrane and he should be ok to leave alone for the night.
And no worries... assuming you are in the uk, I am 8 hours behind you in Utah... only 4pm here.
because we've just been back into the incubator I've had a closer inspection of egg 2 and it seems to be cracking along a bit like those zipping pictures its got no deffinate hole but its cracked round, could this be because the shell it too hard to make a hole so hes doing all the right motions inside but may not get the lid off so to speak??
