One of my chicken's suffered a horrible hawk attack yesterday late afternoon. I honestly have know idea how she survived looking at the injuries she has. She is doing surprisingly better today, but we are having trouble getting her to drink and eat. I believe she ate this morning because her crop was partially full. I stuck her beak in water and she reluctantly drank some. I just want to get more food and water in her. Any ideas on how would be appreciated :D

I recommend flushing the injuries with 50/50 Betadine/water mixture, pat dry, then apply Neosporin as needed.
You can add warm water and chopped boiled egg to her feed to eat. Also give her one drop of Poultry Nutri Drench orally twice a day for no more than 5 days.
Hopefully she will recover.

Even before you start to treat the wounds, you should treat for shock. Give her sugar and electrolytes in her water. Get her to drink this, and if she in not able, you must syringe it into her beak every hour.

This will elevate her glucose and the electrolytes balance her chemistry that has been disrupted by the attack.

She could also be suffering from infection which sets in almost immediately after a serious wound. An oral antibiotic may be wise if the wounds are extensive.

If there are any skin flaps dangling, don't cut them off. After thorough cleansing, they can be used as skin grafts when laid over the wound.

I cleaned her wounds asap and used a antimicrobial spray yesterday and today. She is very feisty and is giving me a very hard time when I try to give her anything in her beak. I tried nutradrench and fishmox mixed with water. She is preening and pretty much acting like herself. She is pooping not a lot, but it looks Normal

Clean the wounds every day, not just once. They need to be kept moist with antibacterial ointment in between cleansings. Fish mox should be given as a direct dose of 250mg per day for seven to ten days. Diluting it in water is not how it's most effective for chickens.

When giving antibiotics, be sure to supplement with probiotics for a week or so after. I would go for 2 weeks, but thats just me. Antibiotics kill the beneficial bacteria in the gut, the gut is the largest part of the immune system, so while treating the infection, it also weakens the immune system. Adding probiotics will aid in bringing back the good bacteria, and boost the immune system.

Do you have suggestions on how to get it in her? She will not let me put the syringe in her mouth. She is being stubborn
