Yay! Glad to hear the happy news. I have a batch of quail eggs in the bator right now, and only four of the original nine have made it so far. They're due next week. I hope I don't have anything like your problems with them--hatching is wonderful and fun, but it can be a real downer sometimes too. I'm SO glad you've got at least one healthy baby out of this batch. Name?

Doing much better! The first chick hatched yesterday morning perfectly healthy. Checked the nest and saw 4 more pipping, and 13 more that had not pipped yet. Went out this morning and found 2 babies rucked under mom, and the other 2 eggs that were pipping were chirping and wiggling, so we will probably have 2 more babies by the time we get home!

so 5 total so far, happy little bunch! We are still bringing them inside to brood them since we wanna make sure the little guys don't get bullied or injured outside. They will be finding their new homes soon (start selling em on Monday) so if anyone is in San Diego and wants a couple ducklings just lemme know!

PS: The first one was black with a yellow spot on its chest....we named it Batman XD

I would love to have some ducklings, but I live in a no-pets apartment on top of other things. Have you found the San Diego meetup thread in the Chickenstock and Meetup forums? You might want to ask there. Also, they have regular meetups where you can bring the birds you want to sell. They just had a meetup a few weeks ago, so I don't know when they're going to have another one.
