i know that look on a cat's face when they just do not feel good. Are you sure you can't get him to the vet? Maybe your vet has a payment plan, or maybe use a credit care. The thing is, there are so many variables. You really need an expert, and maybe some bloodwork done.

i'm with Lurky, i will go to your store right now and buy stuff if you take him to the vet!

Okay, i just bought some of your soaps. That probably won't be a lot of help, mainly because your prices are so reasonable. Sorry i did not check out your store sooner. But i will return!

Keep us posted on your kitty. Will send healing thoughts his way. :aww

This cat needs to be seen by a vet. It may be critical. If the vet won't take payments, time to use the credit card, borrow the money or sell something quick for cash. Also a thought, maybe set aside a small portion of every soap sale or teach a soap making class to start an emergency vet fund. You don't need the stress of worrying over a vet bill.

You HAVE to take the cat to a vet now. Cats don't let anyone know when they feel sick. It's their survival instinct to hide symptoms and behave normally for as long as possible. By the time a cat is visibly sick, it's critical. Don't delay.

I've had cats with fevers many times. Often it is from 1. a cat scratch or 2. a spider they ate. They will go without eating etc. and worry me up a storm. I find out later it was a cat scratch or *unexplained* (most likely a spider they ate). If you want to give him antibiotics, that is probably what a vet will do. DON'T give aspirin more than once or twice in the lifetime of your cat!

I let mine ride it out now, after having too many vet bills.

My guess is it was a cat scratch to the eye -- that is why you don't see anything and yet it hurts him. Also probably why he was all freaked when your H picked him up.

I'm not a vet and of course taking him to a vet is the best advice. Some of us can't afford to run to the vet for everything, though.

Lately I also started giving them yogurt if they have fevers and usually within a day or so the fever will break.

I hope Smokey feels better soon!

Not to panic you, but I thought aspirin was toxic to cats. If he has been poisoned by an anticoagulant such as rat poison, it will thin the blood even more.

It is hard on the kidneys, I believe, but it won't kill in small doses. I think 1/4 of an aspirin is ok. JUST DON'T DO IT MORE THAN ONCE MORE!

Hydration is what I think is the most important thing. We humans have fevers from time to time and it doesn't mean we are dying. A fever is a natural reaction to infection. I honestly don't think the vet will do anything more than give antibiotic. That is what they do, unless they find something suspicious (like a half-closed eye). The eye, minus anything visible in it, suggests to me a cat scratch.

New development:

He ate the ENTIRE LARGE CAN of wet food. His sitting up now and looking better.

The bad part is. I noticed that the eye that he was keeping half closed has a very faint white cloud over it.

I'm going to do all I can to get him to the vet tomorrow (they're closed now). I've maxed out every credit card trying to get my business going. I am broke!!!

Good news (sort of).

Is that cloud his inner eyelid or a film from an infection?

I'd put a little yogurt on his food until tomorrow morning.

A cat with bottle of aspirin NO!Cats cannot tolerate aspirin as well as dogs or people. Aspirin stays in the bloodstream of cats for a long time. Almost two days after giving aspirin, a cat will still have half of it still circulating in his bloodstream. If given the dose usually given to people or dogs, aspirin will reach toxic levels in the cat quite rapidly. If aspirin is prescribed for a cat, it will generally be small doses given once every 2-3 days.

OPPS!!! I said it was 1/4 of a pill but it was really just a sliver. I think it's ok as long as it's not human size.

Dumba$$ move on my part.
