or make an open ended cone with lightweight cardboard and use the brightest lamp you have, and hold the egg over the narrow end. A high intensity desk lamp maybe? I've used a large and powerful mag-light like what is shown in that one page, but yeah, a darker shell will make it harder.

And I also strongly agree with dieselgrl about not shaking them... though yeah, under the circumstances, I doubt it matters with that one, just be careful with any others.
 
Well if they are lighter color egg's a reg. small flashlight will work.I had made an egg candler out of an old broken( gaaaaa cant think what those lamp's are call now) The olblong glass top ones with the original lamp box with a hole cut in it.I had one customer thought it was awesome set up it was Ugly but it did work for me for about a year until I discovered those lil LED.I had brown egg layer's and it worked great for me.TY to daughter's BF for one thing leaving something lying around as usual LOL.
