the bag method hitting the ground works grate very fast and you don't see the little fller i hate to say and hope to never have to do it again i know he is in abetter place now thanks

If this chick had hatched somewhere without human intervention it would have probably been eaten by some predator, or fire ants, or the Mama hen herself, and it wouldn't have been as swift & as sure of an end. It's always sad & difficult to have to cull a baby chick, but it's the final kindness you can provide. I dig a deep narrow hole near the drip line of a bush, then wrap the chick in a paper towel and carry it to the hole. Then I take my good kitchen shears and quickly snip through the poor chick's neck, and let both parts of the chick fall into the hole. That way it at least provides nourishment for a plant and in that way, continues.
