*****HELP HELP******Whats up with this chicken ?????????

I went out to the coop about 10 minutes ago and found this RIR acting strange, I took it out of coop and have it in the basement. Anyway, it wasn't acting like the others, and wasn't moving around at all. It just stands there all fluffed out with its head down and didn't even put up any kinda fight when I picked it up.

Here's what she looks like.

Other than being lethgargic does she have any other symptoms?
Is her nose running, eyes puffy, poop normal, and is she showing any interest in food and water?

The more info you can get the easier the more experienced keepers can offer good feedback. Hope you get the right answer and get your hen back to good health.

Lol not to say I am right but the top picture just looks like it is sleeping to me. Keep an eye on it and hope all goes well. The way I figure it someone has to be the first to go to sleep. Sure hope that is what it is.

Well it's nice to see you took this seriously, I do know the difference between sleeping and something being sick. That said, checked her this morning and she's dead

. Well the only other thing I can add is that she wasn't eating or drinking or atleast thats what saw, didn't seem interested. Thanks
can you hear me now? :

I am sorry she is gone. She in no way looked like a sleeping chicken. Only a very ill chicken will stand like that in the daytime. Real RIR are darker than hatchery stock. Do you have any idea what her poo looked like and had she lost any weight? That may help someone more experienced to offer ideas of what could be wrong. I would keep a close eye on the others and check droppings and weight on everyone. Again I am sorry.

Have you considered doing an at home necropsy? It may alleviate some concerns if you can find something concrete wrong with her (reproductive issues come to mind). Sorry you lost her.
