Help help...... With my rooster ???

My chickens have always started laying somewhere between 20-30 weeks. I do know that some can take even longer depending on the season. The rooster fertilizes the eggs before the hens lay them. It won't hurt you to eat them or anything, but I suppose the thought of it does gross some folks out. There is no time for a chick to develop if your eggs are immediately collected. A hen needs to sit on them for 21 days before chicks hatch out. Hope that helps!

No, the only way to keep your eggs from being fertile is to keep the rooster completely separate from the hens. One mating can deposit sperm that can fertilize eggs for up to three weeks.
