Help Hen acting slugish i think she may have frostbite.

well i think it has something to do with the pecking order because i had a hen with sour crop and her lathergcy was so bad she didint want to eat or drink but this she will eat i havint seen her drink yet but i will in the morning i think anyway thank you for the help!

i also noticed that she was with the rest of the flock in the run when i found her.

Normally pecking order should not prevent a low-ranking chicken from eating or drinking. If it is, then more feeders/waterers are needed in different locations. The low-ranking birds need to be able to get away from the aggressive ones and they need to be able find food/water wherever they are retreating to.

ok so as i write this it is a quarter to 11 pm

i went out to the hen house to check to see how my hen is doing and i noticed she is having runny poops just putting a update out there thank you for help.

Ok so i went to check on her this morning and i found she has become alot more lethargic and wont move now almost the signs of sour crop but with runny poops and i check her crop it was empty i have changed the food and water any other sujestions? i was thinking i might be able to give some electrolyte's to boast her appetite and get her eating raising her energy? is this a good thing to do about her weight?

Wow, sorry to hear that, Noah. If her crop is empty then it isn't sour crop or an impacted crop I would think.

The runny poop can just be a sign that she is not eating but is continuing to drink. And electrolyte addition like Rooster Booster and something more calorie heavy like Nutri-Drench will not hurt anything - they can only help. But if she won't eat, she won't make it.

You can try offering her soft food: a mash of feed soaked in electrolyte water, canned sweet corn, cool, cooked scrambled eggs, canned tuna, etc. And see if she shows interest.

Hopefully others can chime in here. Since her condition is worsening I'm wondering if it could be internal laying? I have no experience with that, but it's a very serious condition.

You might want to research that. But again hopefully others can offer better insight. Anyone?

Ok, some I've looked some up some pages and found some sign's on those page's and one of them was egg yoke'y poop, so i checked the runny poop and it's only the water that she drank. i also checked her abdomen and it's small and reasonbly hard.

Internal laying has been suggested by several people since post 15, and a crop problem seems to not be the problem. Someone just posted a necropsy report from their state vet on a hen with similar symptoms. Her hen had multiple reproductive problems—salpingitis with lash eggs, egg yolk peritonitis, oviduct cancer, and liver hemorrhage. We cannot treat most of these things, but it goes on to show us how good it is to get a necropsy performed after death by the state vet poultry lab, to understand what happens to make them so sick.
I would continue to give NutriDrench vitamins and electrolytes, offer wet chicken feed, chopped egg to get her eating, and try to keep her comfortable. If she appears to be suffering, I would consider putting her down, and get a necropsy.
