HELP HEN FOUND ON BACK KEEPS THROWING UP

I went to go put away my flock for the night like normal, but when I went in the coop to count them I found one under the perches on her back. She's one of my younger birds, about a year and a half, and has always been healthy. She was fine earlier, I had to go catch the little escape artist, but now all of a sudden she can't perch or stand. She's also throwing up, it's just water. Which is weird because she's been eating fine. I just don't know what to do or what's going on. I probably won't be able to respond until morning, but I will check soon as I get up. Any advice or ideas will be appreciated.

No, but it was empty at this point so not to sure.

When I went to go check on her this morning she was back up and walking so I put her back with the flock. But she immediately went into the coop and is keeping to herself and won't eat.

How is she doing this morning? Any improvement in being able to stand on her own? Any interest in food and water? Is she breathing normally or does she have a rattle? Have you felt her crop and what does that feel like? Pooping normally? Are her pupils normal?

I think we sent our messages at the same time and you didn't see mine. I answered all of those right before you sent that. Except for, she's breathing pretty normal, nothing different in her poop, and the first thing I checked where her pupils. I've had some issues with Mareks in the past so it was a concern, but she's not showing any of the signs my other birds ever have. So I'm pretty sure it's not Mareks.

Have you checked in her mouth for an obstruction? Do you see any spots in her mouth or is it clean? Is there a nasty, sour smell emitting from her mouth? If so, it could be sour crop. I know you said it is empty, was that by feel or just because you know she is not eating? Is her crop squishy? firm? hard? doughy? How does her belly feel?

If she is weak continue with electrolytes to help give her a boost. Your bio doesn't say where you are but if it is hot where you live, she could have consumed too much water and is expelling what she doesn't need. That doesn't explain why she was on her back.

It's not uncommon for them to isolate themself from others in the flock when they don't feel well. As long as she is not being pecked or picked on by others I would leave her with them.

Could another chicken have hurt her? Is she low in the pecking order or bullied? Chickens usually don’t throw up unless they have a crop issue or pressure is put on the crop. They can have water drip from the beak after drinking if their head is down and forward.

She's pretty high on the pecking order so I don't think it was a bird. And her head was up, which is what's confusing me, because I'd only even had a chicken throw up if there head was down. She's back out with everyone else but won't eat. Her crop seems fine, it is a little squishy, but I'm pretty sure that's because she's not eating.

What does this mean? You had to go catch her...did you have to chase her down, grab her and hold/carry her back to the coop?
Was the crop pressed in the process of catching her?

I'd check her crop first thing in the morning before she's had anything to eat/drink, see if the crop has emptied. If it hasn't then address that symptom according to the article linked below.

When was her last egg? Any production issues?
