that barred rock is going to be a really nice cockerel when grown...i'm 99% sure on that.

no its not that she is "mothering" that chick unless she hatched it...it can be any number of reasons why she isnt laying from age to parasites to she just isnt ready to feed quality and other reasons

The hen looks like a mixed breed. If she's from a hatchery she's likely a New Hamp or production red.

I agree that chick is colored like a cockeral, plus the pink comb........that's going to be one handsome rooster.
