Help hen is breathing hard

Isn't an RX required for Sulfa? No vets in my area take chickens at all. 2½ hour trip 1 way to the ONLY vet I'm aware of (and believe me...I've searched alot!)
What illness are you planning on treating with sulfa antibiotics? There are some available for fish or pigeons over the counter, but in chickens they treat the respiratory disease coryza, coccidiosis, fowl cholera, and some gram negative bacteria in other illnesses.

Because it, along with 2 other medications have been prescribed to my 1 hen and she has to be in them for the remainder of her life however I can not continue to drive two and a half hours one way with a chicken every single month and pay $200 just for the visit of taking her in for monthly follow ups...So I was hoping that there was some type of means of sulfa without an RX along with the other medications of Calcium Gluebionate 200 mg/ml (per ml) and Gabapentin 100 mg/ml suspension is what has been given to her but I can't continue to drive two and a half hours (one way) with my chicken all by myself every single month and that $200 doesn't even include the prescription medication cost so I was really hoping that maybe some kind of advice or suggestion or idea of thoughts on that would help that's all.

Yes, the fish antibiotics are safe for chickens. What are you using calcium for? What problem does your chicken have? Calcium gluconate may be found at your feed store and online. Human calcium tablets are available at most Walmarts and drug stores. Gabapentin is not available. It is prescription only.
