When I got home Henrietta looked very stressed and was walking like a penguin. Immediately I knew she had held off laying her egg because she didn’t have access to her favorite nesting box.
I quickly moved her to the box and she laid her egg. Now, she is still walking like a penguin. As soon as she was done, she struggled over to the water and drank. I soaked her in warm water for about 5 minutes to see if I could get her to relax some more but she is still walking the same.
I have moved her to a tiny cage separate from the flock with food and water, and covered it in blankets to encourage her to lay down and relax. I’m worried she’s been permanently damaged. Is there any other way I can help her? I feel so bad.

I let her outside with the others now. She walked outside of her own volition and was walking kind of normally at first but gradually started waddling again.
She’s not lethargic but has a swollen vent upon further inspection. I can’t feel any abnormalities in her abdomen, it’s soft as it usually is

I am so sorry to hear your girl is not doing well. This happened to my Wyandotte last week. Mind you she hadn't laid an egg in months. We found her in the morning standing like a penguin. Her belly was a little swollen but not too bad. Her vent area was more swollen however so we thought she might have a soft shelled egg stuck in her vent. We soaked her a handful of times. Unfortunately, her belly got progressively more swollen each hour so much so that she lost control of her legs and even her wings. Very sad. I even stuck my finger in her vent to see if I could feel an egg but I felt nothing. We had to put her down by the end of the day because she was losing all control of her body. We think she had egg yolk peritonitis.

Maybe give her calcium to help her contract? Perhaps she has another egg? Also, keep an eye on her belly and see if it's getting more and more swollen.

I think the last time she laid before today was about two days ago. If she has peronitis, it is hopefully a small case.
She has free access to calcium, but I’ll see if she will take some from my hand. I’ll check to see if she’s more swollen. I put her back in the coop and she’s laid down now.
