thats what she does when she runs, kind of a skip. Last night I left her roam the porch (its carpeted

) and for the first time since she hurt it she roosted, on the railing for the ramp to the door. This morning she was giving me the honk she wanted out. I just open the door and she goes right out. She didnt have a name but Ive taken to calling her Hey Lady. She is attached to me and seems to understand what Im doing. Thanks everyone, I will keep you updated.

A little bantam chicken - a beautiful little rooster with pinkish purple earlobes and gold and black feathers - moved to my place and started living with my standard chickens. A couple days later, he walked up with 4 tiny little hens. They can fly very well, so they free-range, but most of the time they just hang out with my other chickens. Anyway, one day my X-husband found the little rooster hanging upside down on the inside of our board fence. It's the kind of fence that has 6" wide dog-eared slats. I don't know how long he hung there, but when he finally was able to get him un-hung, he flipped to the ground and just laid there. Then he limped a while, but by nightfall, he was flying again. Just an experience to let you know if you have banty chickens and a wood fence with 1/2 spaces between the boards that you should be on the lookout for upside-down birds.
