HELP! Hen with swollen shut eye

Hi,

I was just putting the girls to bed and noticed one had a shut eye. At first I thought the eye was missing! Upon closer inspection I found that the lid was just swollen shut, they eye appears fine and there is no puss/crust or redness. Also I felt around the area and she was fine with me touching her near the eye ( i could pull lid down) and did not seem to find and abscess or wounds. A neighbor says she saw the same hen in the coop when the others were out foraging today but when I found her she was eating grass with all the rest.

ANY ADVICE?!

This is my first batch of chickens and I'm not feeling TOO concerned but dont want it to get out of hand. I will check her in the AM to make sure it has not gotten worse.

Did you get any responses to your post? Is your chicken ok? I've got a hen with a swollen eye as well. The eye itself seems ok, but everything around it is very swollen. She's walking around foraging with everyone else and seems to be ok otherwise. I've got some eye ointment (Oxypol) leftover from a cat eye injury and am wondering if I should use that on my hen, or leave her alone and see how she is tomorrow.
