I have a hen who recently I noticed had a pretty bad wound on her rear end so I sprayed some vetericyn and separated her to prevent hens from pecking her, however when I went to check on her today she doesn’t move much, keeps her eyes closed for the most part, and had ants on her, I got most the ants off but I don’t know what to do with her now (plus my rooster has ruined the feathers on her back end :()

Poor girl:(. Looks like you are on the right track with cleaning it with Vetricyn. Do you have any chlorhexidine solution to clean it with?

How is your hen this morning? She appears to have a bloated abdomen, can you confirm that? Compare with other birds if you are not sure. Do you know how old she is and when she last laid? Make sure she is where no more ants can get to her, and no flies. You can use plain neosporin or plain triple antibiotic ointment on her wound also. Is she eating and drinking? How do her droppings look?

Sorry I just now saw your message, unfortunately she passed away not to long after I posted it here, I don’t know about bloated but you could feel the the bones and I noticed she had stopped eating and drinking, as for age she wasn’t even a year old :(
