Help! Hope my first hatch survives!

Came in this morning to the classroom and I have a baby stuck in it's egg. I had no choice but to help it and man was it stuck! The stuff in the egg had dried on the poor baby's feathers and it couldn't get it loose. Some feathers were lost in the process, but wrapped it in a damp paper towel and returned it to the incubator. Hopefully that helps with softening the rest of the dried stuff. Poor thing was screaming at me. Hope I did the right thing.
