HELP! How do I get blu-kote off my hand. I look like a blueberry!

I have never used blu-kote before and thought I'd try it on my rooster, who is getting feather pecked around his neck. As I was putting the lid back on he got antsy and spilled it on my hands, arms, clothes, etc. The clothes are no biggie, but my hands (right one in particular) looks like a blueberry! I know some will stay for weeks, but there has got to be a way to reduce the nice purple intensity that I have got going on!

Any suggestions?!?

We have a safety training session on Tuesday, at which point I will be meeting the president and other higher ups in the company. I'd rather not shake hands with them looking like I just got out of the Willy Wanka Factory.

I got BlueKote on my hands on Wednesday and after 5 showers and a Moms load of dishes laundry etc. (2 days later) It was still under my nails. Note to self: Wear disposable gloves.

It will wear off in a couple of days, just DON"T touch your face.

I don't have a dishwasher so when I get it on my hands, doing dishes a few times gets it off.

lighter fluid or gas may take it off. but then you are putting lighter fluid or gas on your skin.

I think it's semi-soluble in rubbing alcohol...I'd try it before the gas.

One of the first things I did was check my face!

My face is normal! Thankfully...

Obviously soap, water and a scrubbing brush only does so much. So, I tried Oxiclean...that helps. It also changes the color to yellow, so where it isn't purple anymore, looks like I have mustard all over my skin. DH says my hands looks bruised now (purple and yellow...and where they are near each other looks green).

91% Isopropyl Alcohol didn't help a whole lot, but that could be because I have rubbed half my skin off with Oxiclean.

We have a dishwasher. Maybe it needs to be out of commission for a few days.

As for the purple under the fingernails...well, nail polish can hide that. The purple cuticles? Uhh....that'll look interesting. That's where it is heaviest.


If it'll look better within a couple days, then maybe it won't be so bad come Tuesday morning. Since we have to where our PPE (Personal Protective Equipment (per OSHA). ie, hard hat, safety vest, steel toe boots, etc) and we have to have long sleeve shirts, I am not worried about my arms, etc having purple spots. Hopefully I will have on gloves when the president or someone comes near!

Next time, I am using gloves...

have you tried nail polish remover? I don't know if it works, but it might.

You might try a bleach and water solution, but I don't think there is anything that will remove it entirely. It's durable stuff.
