My family might be moving soon from Florida to Washington state.... It's about a 3 day drive. I love my hens but I'm not sure if it would be good or even possible to haul them all this way. I have multiple questions
1) what do I transport them in? Dog crate, chicken wire made box thing....
2) can you ship chickens by air of mail a chicken?
3) do I need to have any information about them to go from state to state like get records or something
4) what do I do with them when we stop at like a hotel or rest stop..( mine are trained to wear a harness and walk around if that helps...)
Please help I REALLLY don't want to give them away :((((

Any small crate that has air holes is good to transport them in. You want to keep it covered with a towel if it isn't going to be too hot to reduce their stress. Pair them up so they have a buddy. Water is a little tricky so I suggest you get some jello, mix in some vitamins like sav a chick, and have it for each crate. I don't suggest walking them as a new area can stress them out even more. When you get to where you are going put them in the new coop at night with plenty of food and water. That would be a long move, a change in housing, and a change in area so expect them to stop laying for several weeks as they do not like change. I don't know the rules for entering into WA so you may want to go onto their state thread and ask.
