Help! How should I attach hardware cloth to camper shell??

@legs13,

If I made my own screen, would it still work with the functional window? I guess I'm interpreting your suggestion as a replacement frame....

Nah...just disregard the existing window frame. Don't try to attach the wire to it. The plastic will probably split & break if you try to drive a bunch of screws through it.

Just cut the new wire screen an inch or 2 or 3 bigger than the window. Lay the wire over the window and lay the new frame pieces over the wire and screw it down. It don't have to be the exact size or shape because you won't see it from the outside. You won't even have to buy the corner kit to attach the 4 pieces together (more money) Screw the long top & bottom pieces down like I described in Post 18. Then screw the 2 short ones on at the ends of the windows.

If that interfers with the operation of the window, and you can't figure out a workaround for that (maybe remove the inside latch and put a pull on the outside) Then you'll have to go to Plan B and install the screen on the outside.

Hope all that made sense.

we used an aluminum topper. Love it for all the light that comes in. It is an aluminum lightweight topper. The two side windows crank out..... wish the front window I could replace as it doesnt open...Got it cheap locally.... Hubby put hdw cloth on inside of the crank out windows...
we used old fencing for the bottom. covered it with vinyl siding. so its very tall inside...
Hubby made a door, use a storm window attached to that.. so during warm weather.... window more air flow. Plus have two coop doors. On solid and one made with hdwe. cloth center...so the solid one is up now.. prob will take down and put up hdw coth one soon. Keep it in coop on a screw or nail so that it does not get misplaced...
It has all been in place a year next month...didnt want fiberglass cause so heavy. Oh we also have a seconf one out in their extra giant run for an additional "shelter" It is only sitting on "pallets" so not real tall. Keep a tredle feeder and extra 5 gallon bucket feeder also in there....
My chickens are so spoiled> I keep telling them they hae it too good
Dang, had a chance to get two small double hung brand new windows couple months ago for $20 each.at" Habitat Restore " store.... Passed them up. regret it ever since
