Help! How to increase the fertility of California quails

...Maybe next summer I'll build them a place outside, but still I need to take them back before the winter.
Sounds like a good plan and it's good to take things on the safe side. But just in case you ever wonder (I'm not saying that you should, but just food for thought while taking all things into consideration):

Now this thread been dead for a whle , but was wondering if anyone had a photo or video on cutting the califorina quail flight feathers ? wanted to let mine free in the yard like the chickens do. ,

I agree with Ntsees, I have 150 California quail and they are "VERY" skittish. When they start to lay, I only walk to the pen daily to gather the eggs so I can put them in a cool basement in preparation to fulfill orders. Other than that, I check on them roughly every two days. I think its kind of weird that you are keeping them in a closet. Do they get any sunlight or is the only source of light from light bulbs in your house? Yes, give them somewhere to hide like boxes etc. I use bushes and grasses for mine to hide and after Christmas I go gather like 15ish Christmas trees for them to run into and hide when I come check on them.

Quail are like chickens, they will pick and kill the weak ones who get sick or stressed. Quall are also cannibals and will kill and eat the dead quail. If quail don't have enough adequate space, they will kill off each other until they do. Its very important they have a lot of space. Hope this helps. Good luck!

oh jeez...you do that and you will never catch them. They are freaking fast. I wouldn't do it if it were me.
