I have a pair of week-old baby Roun ducklings and every night at basically 1:30 am, 3:00 am, and 6:30 am they start calling VERY very loudly until I get up and put my hand in their brooder and distract them. At this point it's basically a routine although -on a handful of blessed nights- they've only woken me once. The thing is I can't just let them peep that loud for that long because they could literally wake EVERYone in the house up. Their brooder is in a basement with no insulation in the ceiling to diffuse the noise and I just happen to sleep down here while I wait for my bedroom walls to be built! So is their any ways you guys can think of that will break this habit of theirs so I can get a full nights sleep?

I am using a red lightbulb in their heat lamp. They seem to be getting better at staying asleep all night as they usually only wake me once or twice now. Even though they are too big to really use it I leave their chick waterer in at night and if they wake me up I sprinkle some feed into it for them to chase. It usually distracts them long enough that they go back to sleep after they are done.
