I am getting ready for lockdown this afternoon... what should my humidity go up to? Temp?
I have a Brinsea Octagon Advance 20
SUggestions on how to get humidity up to 65%??? I am pretty sure I fill both reservoirs and add a sponge??
I would love any advice you have.
Thanks

Anywhere from 60 to 70% EE's no not do will with a higher % If you ran 40% then stay lower 60% Temp stays the same I use the eco 20 bator it works great.
Best of luck!

Still trying to get the humidity up. right now I have sponges in the bottom in the reservoirs with water, also 2 small little salad dressing cups with a tiny sponge in water and the vent on top is closed half way
hope it gets up there
i am heading out of town this weekend and have a friend coming to check on them

How many eggs do you have in that Brinsea? I had 11 eggs make it to lockdown in mine, struggled to get humidity to stay over 60% and had many get stuck and dried out despite being devoted to not opening the incubator. 8 made it, half of those were stuck for over 24 hours pipped and/or partially zipped and had to be helped out. I would add soaking wet sponges, close the vent to about 1/3 or 1/4 and get it steamy in there. 80% or so, especially if you are leaving and can't watch it obsessively. Make sure the temp is toasty, too. And do not open the incubator. The humidity drops quickly and that is what hurts the babies.

Good luck!

ok... so i was gone for a day and now I am back, I think the humidity stayed around 60% but was at 55% when I went in to check this afternoon. So today is day 20....I gave in and opened the incubator to add more water. GOSH I hope I didn't hurt those little guys.
Everything was BONE dry in there, I added more water and another wet paper towel to the bottom. Humidity up to 63%.. tomorrow is hatch day.
Can someone tell me, are they okay? I did not have it opened for more than 3 minutes and the humidity climbed quickly back up....
I am new at this
Thanks
