Help! Hurricane Sandy...

Me personaly would bering them in between the wind and rain why not just play it safe if your able to put them in garage or basment (if you know your basment will not flood that is) or lock them in a bathroom I would why take the risk.

I don't think I can bring them in.If it gets bad, I'll will put them in the garage. Earlier, I put a good sized dog carrier in the duck pen and I put a heavy water bowl in front of the door so it won't close. For the chickens outside I put a cage in there and laid a plastic tub top over it. I also put 2 rocks in front of the door so they can't close it. I don't think the storm will be really strong tonight, but just in case. I've heard the worst will come tomorrow/tomorrow night. Good luck to everyone and be safe!

The ducks were wet this morning. I put food in there hut so it won't get wet and I put a duck in the hut to let them know it was there (she came running right back out), but they won't go in. I hope they'll go in if they have to. The outdoor chickens were barely wet, so I guess they are fine. What about the temparature? It isn't freezing here but it's pretty cold like 48 degrees Farenheit (and remember they are wet, so they'll be like 40-45?) Is it better for the ducks to be wet than the chickens?

Anyone? What do y'all think about me penning them up inside the pen?

I can't quite picture your set-up. If you feel they'll be unsafe, put them in the garage, if you can do so safely. The most important thing is that you stay safe. They are chickens. They can be replaced. You, however, cannot. Please be careful out there!

So they are in a dog kennel and then I put 2 cages in the kennel. Then I put a pair of ducks in one cage and another trio in the other cage. They are covered up from the rain. The chickens are also in a cage in a different kennel covered up. I don't think they can go in the garage because it is flooding a little in there. I really love all of them and want the safe being of them, but I know I can't risk my own life to save them. This is really scary! Anyone else getting hit right now? My hands are numb!

One of our kennels blew away and is now smashed. The chickens that were in it are now in the dry part of the garage and so are the ducks. Please Lord help us...

Praying for you and your chickens Chickenperson, hang in there. Hoping and praying everyone's safe. Big storms like this are so scary. :(

Praying for you! Just remember you are important too! We haven't had much more than 40 mph winds here in central PA, think we've lucked out. Sorry you didn't!
