We recently combined our 2 baby chicks (that aren't babies anymore) with our full grown birds. We've been watching them closely but today this happened. Is this bird gonna make it or should we put her down? What do you use to heal chicken skin?

Get some Vetricyn wound spray at your feed store and spray twice a day. Cleaning the wound with Hibiclens or chlorhexidene, and applying plain triple antibiotic/neosporin ointment is another way to treat. Separate her in a dog crate with food and water in view of the other chickens, so she remains part of the flock. Keep flies away or use the ointment. Give her some high protein treats of chopped egg, canned tuna, or liver. The other chick will need to be protected as well, so she is not attacked until they are similar in size.

Thank you! We have a mean leghorn that is doing it to her. Should I get rid of her? Are leghorns a mean bread?

They are similar in size but I swear integrating new birds into the flock has never worked for us! They are just so mean to the new birds.
