Hi my son is entering his silkies in the fair for 4H. They are 12 weeks old but I have no idea if they are cockerels or pullets. Any help would be appreciated.

Are these pictures of 3 silkies (black, tan, white) or of 6 silkies (3 tan, 1 black, 2 white)?

Personally have never had silkies, so I cant help. But, good luck to your son in 4-H. My tween also will be showing chickens thru 4-H this year.

Are you able to look at their combs? We just got our first silkies this year, so I am definitely a newbie to the breed, but the one I suspect might be a roo is quite a bit larger than the suspected hens, and has a more pink & prominent comb. Mine are 9 weeks.
Mostly though, he acts more like a roo, is a little larger, stands up tall when you approach the 3 birds, acts protective and even bites me sometimes....
I’ll be following to get more info myself!
