Help! I can't get humidity above 40%

Well I disagree Humidity is a factor from day one.
When you start you keep it or I keep it around 30 to 35 %

on day 18 you need to kick it up to 65 to 70 % I go 65. leave one vent hole open and as one guy on here said to place your sponge, doesn't have to be to large,
under it and wet it with a straw. Fill all your reservoirs close it up and don't even think about peaking.
I learned the hard way. Just let what happens happen. I'll bet you get better Hatches

My first hatch in an LG was awesome! But I lived in the valley, where the ambient humidity in the environment is more conducive. When you live in the mountains where it's less humid (we moved to the mountains in April), it's another story. We had three perfectly healthy groups of eggs that had live, viable chicks up until day 18 die during lockdown because the climate we live in now is significantly more arid (i.e., it's drier here than in the valley). We kept water POURED into the LG (and on multiple super-saturated sponges), and couldn't ramp it up above 46-47% during lockdown. The chicks all shrink-wrapped and died. 30 of them in 3 hatches.

The climate in which you live will have an effect on your humidity during hatch. If you are having trouble ramping up the humidity for lockdown in an LG, it could have a lot to do with your climate/location.
