I expected the free rare chick to be a roo from the beginning so I would
be very surprised if it wasn't. Thanks. I think you are right about it being
OEG.
Ah, you didn't read my thread about the notorious "Rare and Exotic" chicks from McM.
Okay, I wish they would change their advertising on this one, what you get is a free mystery chick, and it is whatever they have that is in an extra bin and it is not always rare or exotic. So, don't think you will only get one out of the rare section. I got an EE roo and a Red Star last fall. This year I got a Mille Fleur D'Uccle, to my surprise.
If it is a Phoenix, it would qualify as a Rare or Exotic, so you might luck out after all. I wouldn't put money on it being a boy either, you may just have to wait this one out a little while.

EEs are not rare, I would agree, but since the hatcheries call them Ameraucana or Araucana, which are rare, then they can classify them as a rare breed. I've seen them put on hatcheries' selections of 'rare' varieties....
I'd think maybe Old English Game too if it's bantam. I don't know that any hatchery has standard OEG, as I was looking for one that does and could not find any. Phoenix is a possibility too. Or Welsummer, those are also chipmunk patterned.
