Help! I don't think this chick is going to live, what should I do?

I posted earlier about my severely pecked chick and what to do for it. She seems to be getting progressively worse and I feel like I'm delaying the inevitable and prolonging its misery. I'm thinking of turning off the heat lamp and letting her get cold and just letting her die. Should I do this? Would this be such a terrible way to go? She's not even a day old yet, not holding her head up and gasping for breath.

My personal feeling is that if you feel you need to end her suffering, that you should go ahead and do a cervical dislocation instead of just letting her get cold and die. End her suffering the quickest way possible.

I'm very sorry for your trouble and your loss.

I think I lost her. I just checked on her no breathing at all as far as I can tell. I think she died on her own. I'm so sad. Will have to learn more about this cervical dislocation in case I need it in the future (hopefully not!) but I was advised to give her a chance at life as of last night when she was much more active. At least I tried my best.

Dianne,
I'm so very very sorry for your loss. Sadly, with chickens, almost all of us face at one time or another. It's always sad and difficult.
Thank you for giving her a chance at life.
