Mine was on two days before I put some shavings in.

I keep mine on paper towels for FOUR weeks... it just makes it easier for me.

I put the shavings down and put the paper towels over this. When they get the idea that chick starter is food and shavings are to poop on, we are good to go.

Mine stay on paper towels for a week, then I put them on pellets. I can't stand the mess or the smell any longer.

I kept mine on towels over pellets for two weeks (when they started trying to eat the towels) -- and I actually found the towels easier to clean than the pellets XD But I may just be weird.
