To be honest, European sparrows are not welcome on my property. I destroy nest after nest every year, break eggs, and evict hatchlings whenever I find them. Adult birds are shot on sight. They are very invasive, spread disease, and will kill bluebird hatchlings every chance they get. So, if it's European, or English sparrows that you found, I would suggest destroying them next time you get the chance. Native sparrow species, however I would do everything you are doing. We end up nursing a few birds every year from hatchlings to adults due to injuries suffered from the numerous stray cats around here.
