Help! I found Blood! Please!

Hi,
I went out to the coop to do when last check about 20 minutes ago and they were sleeping in there nest boxes, so I moved them to check for eggs. And, my one rhode island red hen who is about 21 weeks old had stool under that looked pretty normal, but here were 2 or 3 blood spoltches about as big as a pea. I know it does sound like alot. But could that mean an egg is coming
soon! or can mother nature be visting my hen??? PLEASE! any replies would be greatly appreciated!

Are you sure it was puddle like blood or was it just intestinal lining? It's perfectly normal for chickens to shed their intestinal lining regularly. Pools of blood is bad; that's definitely coccidiosis; but reddish tissue mixed in their poop is normal. Check out this link for a good article on chicken poops good and bad!

It was not like a puddle.. It looked more like the wood chips absurbed the blood. But, it was only as big as a pea. Should I be worried? today she seemed fine. and I did not find anymore blood. And, she still has not layed an egg yet. Could this mean maybe, one is coming?
