So for the past few weeks dad has been letting me and my sisters out every night to mingle in the big coupe. Mostly the big girls stay up top on there roosts but come morning, boy they are mean!

Dad has let us out in to the pen a few times but with the big girls on the other side. Its really fun to peck around in the yard and stretch a bit.

Well this morning he opened the door to the pen and let the big girls out but didnt close us up. so we ventured out also. I suppose this is the first time we were both out at the same time in the pen.

I was the unlucky one, for some reason they all ganged up on me and i tried to run but i missed the door to the coupe and got pinned in the corner.

They pecked my head something fierce. Mom was very concerned said it was bloody. I got taken back inside and now Im back in the brooder bymself.

Really between you and me, i dont think mom and dad have ever delt with this before so feel free to just let me know what i need to do to make my head feel better, and ill tell them and we can pretend i new all along.

Thanks
Karen 3rd of the buffs.

PS dad let me borrow his computer to post this.

i was going to take a pic or 2.

doesnt seem to be activly bleeding but she is missing feathers and perhaps the skin in an area a little smaller than a dime on the very top of her head. and the area is generally bloody.

i have 9 girls that are 8 weeks, (she is one of them) and the 2 older girls, one comming up on a year, one a bit older. (exact age unknown)

how bad is bad?

I would recommend waiting to put the 2 groups togeather, as the younger ones i beleive they are way to young to be with the older birds, it should heal up and start re grow in a couple weeks.

I agree with Charlie. All of the girls should be the same size or pretty close to the 2 older ones before you try and put them together. As fare as the wound goes, You can clean it up with betadine and put neospiren on it and that should help with healing. It will take a week or so for the feathers to grow back. Goodluck.
