We have been hatching for two days, so far we have 9 chicks hatched with two to go for 100% hatch.

Chick #7 came out "spastic" for lack of better term.
Head flopping, keeps flipping upside down and cant right itself.
Head is pulled to the side, one eye stays shut and has uncontrolled spasms/screaming fits.
Before I cull it, can it be fixed? will this clear up on its own?
It does seem a little better after a few hours but NOT normal.
These were hen brooded eggs brought in at the last minute to hatch in a 1588.

I can video it if anyone wants to see...really cute little peep otherwise.

Are you sure it's really being "spastic"?
All of my chicks acted that way when they first came out. They were just trying to get on thier feet.

Either way, I wouldn't cull it. I'd give it a few days, and see if it was just a fluke. I'm all for riding it out and seeing what you get.

Never waste a chick, I always say

Best of luck, I'm praying for a successful hatch

I have never had one that did that, but it looks neurological. I would see how it is tomorrow. If it doesn't improve I would probably cull (or rather have dh do it, cuz I'm a wimp). Poor thing, could be a fluke, would give it a little time if it were me.
Good luck

I would move this to the Emergencies/Diseases/Injuries forum-you might get some more specific answers.

Have you tried any Poly Vi Sol vitamin drops, Avia Charge, or sugar water solution to see it it'll help? Can it eat and drink at all? It may be reacting to not getting enough to eat or drink as well if it can't get around enough with the others. It does look to be neurological problem with the way it can't balance or right itself.
Worth a try to help it though til the morning at least.
Hope it does better by the morning!

It hasnt eaten or had a drink of anything yet. I separated it from all but two chicks because the older ones kept stepping on it. I will go try some sugar water and see if that helps.
I read another post about the poly vi sol but will have to wait until morning to get that.
So far all the others seem fine so I am hoping its not contagious.
