Hi. I'm totally new here and found this thread through Google.
I have a question as this is exactly what's happening to us. We have a duck (Mallard) that's made a nest and filled it with eggs behind a tiny bush in our front garden. The bush is up against the house and surrounded by a walkway. We live in a rural area and our street is surrounded by farmland. There is no water for miles (a creek runs about 2 miles away). However, we have a swimming pool in our backyard. Is this why momma duck chose our house to nest? I'm happy to let her live behind the bush for the time being and hatch her young, however I'm not keen to let them move into our pool ... if anyone can offer advice, it'd be appreciated.
Thanks.
