We have a Turken rooster with a majorly swollen neck. My husabdn looked down his throat to see if there was something stuck, but nothing. Any help would be helpful. Thanks.

We tried what you said, but his crop is empty and nothing happened. Do you think it could be a bee, spider, or something like that? The poor thing won't eat or drink.

My hen had something like that. Turned out to be a goiter. Her's just went away after a few months . . . as long as he's eating and drinking, he should be fine if I'm correct. Just chop stuff up into smaller pieces for him because it's gonna be more difficult for him to swallow for a while. Good luck.

He is still alive, eating, and drinking. He is only about 9 wks old so he is still on a chick starter...much easier to eat.

LadyShred: What is a goiter?

Here is some quick links with medical info (the bottom link is a better one):

I'm not sure if this is really what your chicken has, but it seems very likely since my hen has had similar symptoms. I did not treat hers, and hers got better on its own, but I don't know what all could happen if it goes untreated. There are several kinds of goiters that appear for many different reasons. Try doing some research. My girl might have just lucked out.
