Please be patient. Wait till day 7 to candle. I know it is hard to do, but I have had some not start to develop good till then, and a lot of the time you will see nothing on day 3.

i never throw eggs away till day 10. i don't trust my "expertize" enough to chance throwing a little life away. imo, it's way too early for throwing eggs away. i would wait.

x2 Let them be until day 7. It will be much easier to see development. After you've candled on day 7, wait at least until day 14 to do it again. The more you handle the eggs, the more chance you are taking of accidentally damaging them. Good luck with your hatch!

thanks guys

i did crack one open on accident when i was candling and saw no development(sigh) but when i candle all of them they all looked the same and when i candled a store bought egg i saw no blob... hopefull it was just the air sac... i cant wait till day 7 so i can see any development... for now i will just have to settle with watching some chicks run around.....
again thanks

You may want to stop candling NOW. Go somewhere and do something sit down and put your hands under your legs.

Every time you open the bator you are letting the heat out which will take longer for the eggs to develope so all you are doing is making the bator work harder and take longer.

Patients my grasshopper.

I hope you get many many chicks. It's a great thing to watch them.

To be honest, you could candle your eggs every day and they would be fine, just thrown off a little bit. Incubators are like broody hens that have a death wish. See, naturally a broody hen gets of her eggs every day for about 30 minutes to get food, water, and make broody poop. Now don't go handling them every day, but you can candle them every 4-5 days as I have. I have one hen who just hatched and one setting on 16 eggs, as well as an incubator that just hatched. For the incubator, I candled the eggs every 3-4 days, and I had 23 of them hatch, out of 25. As long as it doesn't stay open too long, it shouldn't harm them too much.
