Help! I just went into lockdown mode with my chicks.

Your fine… I honestly don't know anything about turning them off… 75 is ok to for now… just a random thought what kinda chicks are you hatching?

I'm hatching a variety from golden comets, to black austrolopes, to silkies, to ameraucanas, to wayandottes

My humidity has temporarily shot up to 99% with no ill effects on the hatching chicks. I like it at 80% for my quail. The only affect of high humidity is that they will take longer to dry off after they hatch. They can't drown (that's a myth) - they can only suffocate if their air cell hasn't grown large enough. They do need good ventilation though when they externally pip and some people leave the plugs out all the time to prevent them forgetting and suffocating the chicks.

thank you! I removed both plugs since I'll be at school today. Today is day 2 and I'm more anxious than before! Mainly excited, but I always worry that I will mess up and ruin what I'm doing.

Don't worry - we all feel that way. It's so worrying until you start to see them pip, then you worry again until they start to hatch. It's probably good you'll be at school, otherwise you would hover over the incubator all day. Let us know how the hatch goes.
