Glad it’s working out for you. All the more reason NOT to move a broody hen!!!! Many have had success both ways moving the broody and not moving. For me next time I am not moving her at all. If she picks the higher nesting boxes like last time I will just add more wood chips in case of fall outs.

You already have good information, but next time I would just screw a taller lip onto the nesting box so the chicks for sure couldn't fall out.

We put a small buffer around the box to keep them safe through the night. Thanks for the suggestion!

That’s great! How high is the nest box? You might also put a ramp leading up to the nest box because the baby chicks after two or three days should be able to use a ramp if it has little dividers mailed onto it. Something like this that you can make out of a fence board.

Yes!!! My phone was dead when I went out this morning so I’ll have to post a pic later, but I have one hatched and I can hear another chirping. Hoping the others peep out today!

Chicks are kinda stupid about ramps at first, just pile some extra bedding under the nest...they are pretty tough.
Once they are out and out of the nest, mama will probably settle down somewhere on the floor with them, might be good to have a 'nest' down there for them.
