Okay....so I decided to get 8 chicks...but then I came across some barred rocks a week later and the feed store also have red production layers...and Ooooooo some english speckled...how special those looked......and look...those look like little yellow ducks! Forgot what they are except they look like the Buff Orpingtons I saw in the catalog that I really like....but they weren't Buffs. So now I have 18 dang chickens (fuzz butts)...BUT I went to the feed store Saturday to re-stock on starter feed AND THEY HAD BUFF ORPINGTON!! Soooooo, yep, I got 2. But I WAS very good because I didn't get any of the Rhode Island Reds or Amercauna (sp?) that the feed store also had...maybe next year??? I think I'm addicted and I keep my husband laughing and well amused at my fretting over my babies. And all this because I saw a Golden Polish at the Fair this past fall and that is REALLY what I want!!! Am I insane??

Yes, you're insane. We all are. I'd advise you to quit the bird buying before you have a huge, stinky mess.

Count me in as crazy too! We originally only wanted 8 and are now up to 18 as well...I still trying to convince the hubs that 20 is a better number...

Nope not insane.

I started with 6 chickies, went back to TSC on Friday to buy grass seed to plant my horse pasture, and would you lookie there...new chicks! I ended up with two EE's I think. They look like little chipmunks and were the only two left that looked like that. I had to have them. I was a matter of life and death I just know it.
Hubby even wanted them too.

They are getting along very well with the others too.

Hello. My name's Amanda, & I too am a chicken addict. It's so hard not to buy every blue chick I see! I just love those soft grey hues! I'm holding out @ 11 (not a single blue either!) right now & they are about to be out of the brooder...I've told myself the only way we're gonna heat the lamp back up this year is IF I come across any black, blue or buff Silkie chicks. And I really want some Buff orps too! THAT'S IT!!! I'm hoping resolve stays firm until after Easter when the stores quit getting shipments in. I'm holding my breath & crossing legs, toes, & fingers till the feather-legged order comes in this Thurs. or Fri.......Please Lord, let there be Silkies & let me get off work in time before they're all bought up......Amen
