We started out with red sex links. Then about a month later I went to the feed store.....and came back with barred rocks, buffs and EEs.

I have heard the people of BYC described as "enablers" by a couple of different sources. I agree! Everyone just makes it sound fun to have more and more chicks. I started out with 6, but the foster dog killed 4. So I bought 3 more chicks and put 7 eggs in the incubator. Now I am waiting on a shipment of 6 duck eggs. You, me, all of us - we are all chicken crazy!!

I'm still wondering if there's a 12-step program for this addiction ---- not that I'd join, mind you ..LOL.

Last year I intended to get 12 maximum. I ended up with 18. We thought that was enough for 2 or 3 years. Nope. Now we getting 24 more in less then two weeks! They are coming from 3 or 4 places. It is bad enough getting them from 1 place but 3 or 4??? The risk of extra chicks falling into my take home box increases exponentially with each place I visit. From one feed store I only intended on buying one chick, a California White. I will have to stand next to many tubs of chicks to get this one. AND it will likely be the first one I pick up. Uh oh... I can't have just one chick in the brooder by itself for a few hours...
