I'm new to incubation and just bought an incubator with an egg turner. I have been wanting one for a while and saw tractor supply has them on sale for $80. After reading the instructions throughly I started it up and it held temperature great for 24 hours. So, I went ahead and put I'll of the eggs in, BUT without knowing, I put them in with the air cell down! I started on 3/13/15 at 12:00 AM. It's now 3/14/15 at 12:00 P.M. Will the eggs be okay??? I have a total of 41, and its devastating to think I might have ruined my whole run.

Hi :welcome

Try not worry :hugs As it was not for too long I would not be too worried. As long as soon as you noticed you put them right they should fine. Its more for long periods of time being the wrong way that can affect the developing embryo. Yours were not the wrong way for long and the embryo will have barely developed after only one day of incubation. I'm sure they will be ok.

Good luck with your hatch :fl

Ok thanks! When should I start to candle? I'm really anxious because some of these eggs were about 10 days old, and I don't want them blowing up as some people have said.

Should I remove the egg turner on day 19 and let them on there side? Or turn it off?

I remove my egg turner on day 18 and put them in egg cartons i've trimmed down, air cell up , but slightly leaning to the side the air cell dips.
i do dry hatching(no water) ... at this point i add warm/hot(not too hot) water to bring up the humidity (65)...lock down until chicks hatch :)

X2 I stop turnng day 18 remove dividers and place in egg cartons. Laying them on their sides is fine too though as said above. It's a Personal choice on what you do. Do remove the turner though either way as chicks can so easily become trapped and injure themselves with the turner still in.
