Please help. I misread the ivermectin dose for my flock of .1ml to 1ml on each chicken. I’m really freaking out that they may have gotten too much. I feel extremely bad and only gave it to them 2 hours ago. I’m not sure if I’ve killed my girls. It was a topical treatment. What do I do? Feeling pretty shitty right now. Is there anything I can do?

Do they appear sick or are you just concerned about the dosage you gave? I've never had an issue when I have used that in the past and I really didn't measure just guessed.

Welcome to BYC!

Which ivermectin did you use? The 1% (10 mg/ml) injectable or the 5 mg/ml (0.5%) pour-on? Either way, they should be fine.

If I were going to give ivermectin to a five-pound hen, this is how much I would use:
1% injectable - 0.23 ml orally
5 mg/ml (0.5%) pour on - 0.45 ml topically

If you gave 1 ml of the pour-on to a five-pound hen, you gave about twice what I would give.

They seem fine this morning. But I’ve been reading into it a bit

they seem fine this morning, a tad bit of runny poop but they are eating and drinking fine. I did read it takes full effect after 48-72 hours so will see how they go
