I have a 6 1/2 month-old barred rock pullet and she seems way more reserved than usual. She is usually top of the pecking order, pushing her way around, and being spunky/energetic. Today I noticed her being pushed around by other chickens, and often staying in one place for a long time while being very still. Another concerning aspect was that her voice was muted compared to normal. I gave the chickens some cabbage leaves today, and while my other girls went straight for it, my barred rock nibbled it a tiny bit then went back to being by herself and doing nothing. I don't really know much about diseases and symptoms, that's why I came here. Other than what I just said, she seems mostly normal, pooping normally and (seemingly!) eating and drinking normally. She is also laying perfect eggs, no different than usual! I was wondering if this was some sort of sickness, and if it is, what should I do? :hmm

Similar thing is happening to my hen at the top of the pecking order, she was recently pushed down by the other hens though... maybe that’s got something to do with it? :idunnoGood luck with your hen, hope it‘s nothing serious!

Adorable! I also have a RIR! I’m not completely sure about the others, one is a d’uccle mix, one is a red ranger, and one is a red ranger mix.
d'Uccles are so pretty. I love their pretty spotted/speckled patterns. Also, my barred rock seems not sick. I think she was just a bit tired. Today she was pretty much normal! :thumbsup
