Help!! I was told rid of my hens!

Great news...I think.
Code enforcement just came out. I was a little nervous at first. I showed him the coop and the 2 hens. He said he is going to call the neighbor who complained and try and smooth it over. If she is OK with it then he said everything is cool. If she still has a problem I am just going to move the coop to the other side of my yard, next to chicken friendly neighbors. In the big scheme of code enforcement and the hundreds of calls he deals with a day my situation is barely on the radar.

Nice! its great to have people who will try to make a deal with you instead of forcing you to get rid of the chickens

WOW!! That would be so awesome!!! People's goodness and humanity can reach out to help each other.

The lady I spoke with in the Planning Office had practical, courteous and helpful discussions. She said their office had had a number of people communicate with them about this issue. Maybe she is being a helpful advocate, along with others.
Hooray when anyone shows caring on things that are important to others!

This is amazing to me. I live in Paradise and work in Chico. A co-worker who lives by Enloe hospital wants to get hens, I better tell her about the problem you have encountered. If you need someone to "hen-sit" let me know. And, if you want help in changing this stupid ordinance, let me know and I will be glad to help however I can. Heck, my brother lives in the Doe Mill development and has chickens living in his neighborhood. Those yards are smaller than my house!

well thats pretty good news then, glad to hear it1 what did your neighbor say, was she cool with it or did you have to move the coop? but thats great news the guy was willing to work out a deal with you, lets hope it stays that way... but congrats, and good luck, hope all goes well!

It is nice to see that there is still some common sense and compassion left in this world, you don't see it too much these days. It is especially nice to see it come from a gov't agency. Fingers crossed that you get to keep your hens. Good Luck.

I just received a letter today telling me I have till July13th to get rid of my girls. I have 4 and I'm just sick about it. Not sure at this point what I'm going to do, perhaps I will be able to think better when I stop crying.
